BAIN COMPUTER CENTRE (“CAP”)

The Bain Computer Centre was established in 2001 with a grant from Industry Canada, through its Community Access Program (hence the short name, “CAP”).  Many Bain Co-op members were involved in the start-up process, which helped launch the Co-op into the information age. 

The Bain Computer Centre offers 4 – 6 computers with high-speed internet access, a printer, scanner , resume writing programs, educational games for children, and other exciting features. 

There is a volunteer “monitor” on duty in the Centre, to offer basic help to participants.  New volunteers are always needed; more weekend hours could be made available if there were more volunteers.  Volunteers are also needed for the Steering Committee which oversees the operation of the Centre.  The Steering Committee has organized successful fundraising events for the Centre: a Holiday Pot Luck and Silent Auction, and a Lasagna Dinner and Silent Auction.

The following schedule is listed in the BCN, posted on the community centre door, posted on the outside bulletin board, as well as in the laundromat.  Any changes to the schedule will be noted in the BCN, and a revised schedule posted.  As with any volunteer-driven activity, some changes to the schedule may occur without notice.  Please note, daytime, weekday hours are reserved for adults only.  Evenings are reserved for quiet work only.  Please respect the rules and the volunteer monitor on duty.
